The story takes place in the present time, To Hoai thinks about the past when Xuan Dieu was still alive, and they were in a complicated relationship. To Hoai remembers about the past and regrets his decision. He wonders ‘what if I chose to stay with Xuan Dieu? What if I could overcome the criticism at that time?’
