Bachelor of

Languages

If you can see yourself interpreting for a Vietnamese company director on a trade mission to Japan, or translating and writing in Vietnamese for a multinational corporation, this program will set you on the path to your dream job.

Develop a foundational understanding of language in different cultural contexts and then choose to specialise in Japanese or translating and interpreting, or both via a double major.

The Japanese major is taught by Japanese nationals. It combines language skills with experiences of Japanese lifestyle and culture, including engagement with Japanese-speaking industry and community partners.

The Translating and Interpreting major is taught in English and utilises cutting-edge technology, including simultaneous interpreting booths and specialised software. It builds skills and techniques that can immediately be put into practice in the real world.

The double major prepares graduates with advanced trilingual and cross-cultural skills, providing the opportunity to develop excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Japanese and Vietnamese.

The program places a strong emphasis on face-to-face learning in the first two years, followed by two Work Integrated Learning (WIL) courses and further cultural studies
