
Michael Cheng

Dr. Cheng graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 1983 with a Professional Diploma in Business Studies (Transport). He obtained an MBA from the University of London in 1997, and an MSC in Industrial Logistics System from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2004. In 2018 he obtained a PhD Degree from the Hong Kong Baptist University. Michael started his career in the Hong Kong government as a transport service officer to manage the vehicle fleet of different departments. After about 7 years’ civil service experience, he turned to the private sector playing the logistics and transport management role for various types of enterprises including large scale retailer, chemical waste treatment center, logistics and transportation firms. In 2005 he switched his interest to academic and research in logistics with significant contributions in the related discipline. Dr. Cheng’s academic career started as an adjunct lecturer in the University of Hong Kong (HKU), School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) teaching subjects related to transport, logistics, and supply chain management. In such period he also took part in several research projects, conducted by the Geography Department of HKU, to explore the transformation and development of hub-port related supply chains. Outputs of such projects were published in international academic and professional journals.
