In the context of Vietnam becoming more open about sex education, the issue of abortion is receiving more public attention. This discourse analysis investigates the way various media platforms portray abortion, thereby showing the stereotypes concerning abortion that are perceived by the public. For instance, abortion is often linked with moral and religious beliefs, adolescent abortion attracts more concern compared to cases of older age groups, and males are rarely mentioned as it concerns abortion-related decisions. By looking at a range of media highlighting this issue, this project analyses and contributes knowledge about the role of spirituality, the influence of patriarchy and norms of morality and public responsibility on shaping discourse.
