SHEDDING LIGHT ON SOLAR: The Energy Story of The Indigenous Canadian and The Indian Communities

The search for a ‘clean’ source of energy is now a more essential process than ever before. Solar energy has been one of the most popular and developed sources of renewable energy over the past few years. The 7th episode of the podcast series “Turbulence Talks” will take you on a cross-continental journey from Canada to India to investigate two notable solar energy projects from these countries: the Tiny House Warriors movement from the Canadian Indigenous community, and the Gujarat Solar Park-1 project in Charanka, India. Through the lens of multiple modernity theories, the hosts compare, contrast, and evaluate each project’s relevance to modernity based on their connection with other pressing social issues such as land rights, human rights, and feminism.
