The Case Study of Implict Hegemonic Masculinity in Vietnamese Nationalism on Spiderum - a Local Online Forum
By applying the lenses of Aristotle's core models of rhetoric and the encoding-decoding theory, this study aims to discover the complex relationship between Vietnamese masculinity and political identities through the political perspectives on Vietnamese nationalism, thus exploring the attempt of Vietnamese men to uphold their traditional masculine values within the context of modern society. Moreover, this case study highlights the significance of local media networks, particularly Spiderum, in perpetuating or contesting gender norms on political discourses.
