The project Put A Helmet On Like Ô

If parents put a helmet on their children, a thousand lives could be saved from road deaths every year in Vietnam. While parents leave children’s heads unprotected, there’s something they always put a helmet on - the letter ‘ô'. In the Vietnamese alphabet, to remind children of the difference between the letters 'o' and 'ô', the circumflex ‘^’ is visualised as a helmet. A lesson every Vietnamese remembers: ‘o' doesn't put on a helmet. ‘ô' always puts on a helmet. Google Fonts draw on this insight to highlight another important lesson for every Vietnamese family.

Nếu cha mẹ đội mũ bảo hiểm cho con, hàng nghìn sinh mạng có thể được cứu khỏi tử vong do tai nạn giao thông mỗi năm ở Việt Nam. Trong khi các bậc cha mẹ để đầu của trẻ không được bảo vệ, có một thứ họ luôn đội một chiếc mũ bảo hiểm: chữ 'ô'. Trong bảng chữ cái tiếng Việt, để nhắc nhở trẻ sự khác biệt giữa chữ 'o' và 'ô', dấu '^' được hình dung như một chiếc mũ bảo hiểm. Bài học người Việt Nam nào cũng nhớ: ‘o’ không đội mũ bảo hiểm. ‘ô’ luôn đội mũ bảo hiểm. Google Fonts dựa trên thông tin chuyên sâu này để nêu bật một bài học quan trọng cho mỗi gia đình Việt Nam.
