The Management and Change Major will provide you with the skills needed in the modern, dynamic business environment. From diagnosing organisational problems, through to formulating socially responsible solutions, you will develop your skills as a leader for change. The courses in the Management and Change Minor will provide you with a grounding in the theories and tools used in businesses around the world, using these tools you will be asked to apply them to real-world problems so that you can further develop your problem-solving skills and showcase yourself as a future leader.

In today’s uncertain climate, it is vital that employees at both senior and middle management level familiarize themselves with change management capabilities. Having knowledge and understanding of change management skills will assist people in your organization to steer through tumultuous periods with confidence. This management and change minor would provide you with the right management and leadership skills and capabilities that are needed in dealing with complex organizational issues, executing strategies as well as leading teams and implementing change in making effective business decisions.

One of the best things about the Management program is that it provides me with many opportunities to gain practical and relevant experiences in solving complex organizational problems (e.g., how companies can compete to achieve sustainable profit in the future). During the problem-solving process, lecturers often encourage students to use frameworks and tools studied in class to understand the problem’s root causes and generate solutions. Additionally, through the ‘Work Integrated Learning’ activity, I have met companies’ top executives, learned about the management challenges they encountered, and applied frameworks to solve their problems. From my experience, this is an efficient way of learning because it has allowed me to structure my critical thinking based on grounded and validated frameworks in tackling real-world problems.

Another highlight of the Management program is that I can meet, learn, and work with some of the most amazing people, such as our program manager, lecturers, and extremely hardworking friends. These people helped me realize that spending time and effort in understanding and tackling complex problems can be fun, intellectually stimulating, and rewarding. By approaching challenges with a curious mind and the right tools, I hope future Management students will also find their overall learning experience exciting and worthwhile.
