Advancing sustainability and transparency through mobile-enabled sensor data analytics

Vietnam is the second largest rice exporter and coffee exporter and seafood exporter yet faces growing international requirements for food safety alongside sustainable practices and supply chain traceability. The combination of traditional farming practices with data scarcity and unmonitored operations leads to economic waste and environmental risks. This project creates a smart agriculture system which combines IoT sensing with mobile communication and AI-based suggestion to address these problems.

The architecture implements React Native for cross-platform use and FastAPI for backend services and Supabase for secure user authentication. The system provides real-time sensor data visualization through Grafana like dashboards and sends notifications when temperature or humidity changes or sensor malfunctions occur.

The mobile app provides farmers with real-time access to soil moisture and temperature readings as well as humidity and pH levels and UV index measurements which can be send to an AI-based recommendation system. The AI PyTorch models extract text suggestions that receive time-based filters (1, 7, 30 days) to support both short-term and long-term decision-making.

The project includes user acceptance testing with small-holder farmers and performance testing to validate data accuracy and update frequency and mobile responsiveness. The project enhances global farming productivity while promoting sustainability and competitiveness at the international level.
