With advantages of 3D printing such as low cost and quick results, it has gained favor to be the technology for rapid prototyping for many companies. However, the ability to print an object direct magnifies the cost. In this project proposal, various existing methods and solutions will be investigated and compared. This proposal proposes a station implementing a robotic manipulator with a conveyor to overcome the problem findings. The solution would require integration with various functions including conveyor control, robot control, model slicing, extruder design and control, and overall integration. With the help of a robotic manipulator combined with a conveyor, it would be a direct cost-saving and could aid multiple benefits to the end-users. 



The design and construction of the ABB robot-based 3D printing application will be the main focus of this project.  

  • Research plastic 3D printing to learn about the processes involved. 
  • Create an operational station by combining the printing system with ABB robots. 
  • Research the ABB 3D printing software to use. 
  • Create the lengthy product for printing
