The OTA update for SDV project is performed by two students from Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Information Technology by putting in practical use of the knowledge which we have been learning throughout the years. The project’s mission is to form a systematic design for software/firmware update over the air that can be implemented across vehicle’s brands and models, utilizing cloud technologies interacting with the vehicle’s Media Control Unit (MCU), where the update-software is transferred to the OTA Master Gateway before updating the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU). More specifically, the scope consists of transferring an ECU software update from the Azure cloud server through 4G/LTE into a Raspberry Pi 3B – acting as the Media Control Unit. From here, the update data is transferred to the S32G Gateway through Ethernet, where it is sent through the CAN Bus to update the ECU’s firmware.
