Project Description (SafeCycle/ Intelligent Cycling Navigation Aid):

SafeCycle is a bicycle computer that is designed to provide cyclists with a safer riding experience. Its objective is to prevent cyclists from being visually distracted while using on-road navigations, such as traditional navigation devices that require LCD displays.

Instead, SafeCycle gives the user more simple and intuitive navigation instructions by making use of the human’s somatosensory system, also known as the sense of touch. To indicate a navigational turning point to the cyclist, SafeCycle provides a generous amount of vibrations to the bicycle’s handlebars left or right to signal their respective turns. This method of instruction would ensure that the cyclist's vision remains focused on the road, decreasing the probability of inattentive accidents.

SafeCycle is an IoT device that is composed of a Raspberry Pi 4 computer, a pair of vibration motors, a Sense Hat module, a GPS module and an external battery bank.
