About Management

The Bachelor of Business, Management program provides a broad understanding of key management areas, such as human resources, marketing, finance, corporate sustainability, strategic management, leadership, and creativity and innovation.

It will equip you with the soft skills that employers are looking for, such as strategic thinking, ethically and socially responsible decision making, managing innovation, managing people through change and managing in cross-cultural environments.

Ever since I was a student at RMIT, I have grown a lot as a student and a person. My teachers also helped me to understand any ambiguities without any hesitation. Throughout the course program, I have learned many foundational aspects of managing a business and using digital resources for marketing in the modern age. This crucial knowledge will help me to go a long way in my future career.

I have enjoyed distance learning at RMIT in the last few semesters, although there are challenges to overcome. I can actively organise my schedule to balance out my academic and social life. Online learning also offers flexibility and convenience for me to complete any given assignments during the semester. Teachers are always helpful in providing feedback whenever I have urgent questions that needs attention.

The program certainly offered a great knowledge foundation through great courses. I have been impressed since my first semester by the courses I have completed: They are not just theoretical, but also provide practical assessments that helped me accumulate useful knowledge applicable in my future career. The lecturers are also absolutely professional and supportive. As a Management student the program surely brought me beyond knowledge and opportunities to self-develop and pursue my future career.

Todd focuses on learner-centred engagement in the classroom that enables students to connect the theories and concepts from the courses to the real world. This ensures that students are ready to step out of the classroom and into the world of work ready to make an impact from day one.

Management provides knowledge about the nature of power, influence, and leadership as well as how people behave in organisations. RMIT prepares graduates with a firm grounding in Management that is fully equipped with management and leadership skills i.e., planning, decision-making, problem-solving, communication, delegation, and time management. The Management program provides you with the tools to succeed as an entrepreneur, CEO, government official, or an executive of a private company.

The program not only provides me knowledge on organisations’ structure in lectures but gives me insight on how organisations operate through guest speakers invited from both local and international companies (depending on each course and semester). Students then had to collect information given in the guest speakers session to break down and analyse the company’s problem or dilemma and provide logical solutions. For 1 course, students are expected to personally ask a company and interview in-depth about their plans and strategy for dominating the market.  Another course requires students to interview a person who they deem is a good leader and provides arguments. Overall, I would recommend this course for anyone who is interested in learning to critically analyse a situation regarding human resources dilemmas or (ethical) decision making for corporate sustainability.
