The Journey of A Being
Nguyễn Vũ Thiên Kim
Throughout the journey of college/university life, young adults tend to experience a lot of changes in their personal and professional lives. As identity development is a crucial factor in adolescence, psychological maturity would be achieved if college/university students were able to decide who or what they want to be. However, the transition from high school to college/university can sometimes be overwhelming for the younger generations, evoking a lack of self-identity and self-acceptance. Impending quarter-life crises can be thoroughly experienced by these students, creating reserved and low self-esteem tendencies. Unfortunately, the phenomenon might lead to unhealthy and toxic coping strategies, potentially sabotaging the integrity of their future orientations.
Therefore, the development of “It is a Long Story”, as a graphic design project, is meant to put emphasis on the development of self-growth and self-identity of college/university students. To encourage self-acknowledgement and practice mindfulness, tarot cards are used to elaborate on the experiences of students through the construction of diverse narratives, exploring the Four Major Jungian Archetypes based on illustrations. The goal of this project is to provide an in-depth look at the consciousness of college/university students, acting as a guide for them on their journey of self-identity and self-acceptance with a special kit holding tarot cards as cup sleeves and a guideline book.
