Industrial Semi Automated Machine Development: Hands On PLC, Motion Control, and Mechatronic System Integration – IIOT Enabled
This project aimed to design, manufacture, assemble, and deliver a semi-automated assembly machine for Schneider Electric's high-value weatherproof isolator switch product line. The machine was designed extensively in SolidWorks and integrated components from multiple industrial suppliers, including Schneider Electric, EPSON, SMC, MISUMI, Basler, and NikkoSeiko.
The development process incorporated analysis of existing Schneider Electric Manufacturing Vietnam machinery and production processes to identify opportunities for applied automation and process optimization. The project also involved direct supplier coordination for component procurement and close collaboration with in-house engineers, machinists, and technicians throughout the design, fabrication, and assembly.
The machine comprises five integrated production stations, incorporating conveyor-based workpiece feeding, electropneumatic workpiece transfer, vision-guided SCARA robotic component handling, automatic screw feeding, and fastening, pneumatically actuated component alignment, and camera-based product inspection and validation.
The expected outcome is a cost-effective and reliable automated assembly solution capable of reducing product assembly cycle time compared with existing manual processes, while providing a scalable platform suitable for deployment on the Schneider Electric manufacturing production floor.
