AI Chatbot for Career Services
RMIT University’s growing student community has created an urgent demand for timely and personalized career support, often overwhelming the Career Services team with hundreds of inquiries daily, many might receive outside office hours. To address this challenge, the AI-powered Career Services Chatbot has been developed to deliver 24/7, scalable, and personalized guidance exclusively for RMIT students.
This innovative platform leverages Microsoft Azure, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) to provide accurate, context-aware responses. Key features include answering FAQs, mapping courses to career pathways, recommending events, analyzing resumes, and scheduling appointments with advisors. Students can also upload resumes and other documents for tailored feedback, thanks to multimodal input support. By automating routine queries, the chatbot reduces response latency, minimizes staff workload, and enables human advisors to focus on high-impact counseling. Integrated with institutional systems such as the Industry Hub, SAMS, and the Careers Online Portal (COP), it ensures direct access to resources like internships, mentoring, and workshops.
With potential scalability and strict data privacy compliance, the chatbot embodies inclusivity and accessibility. Ultimately, this project positions RMIT as a leader in AI-driven educational support, empowering students to take ownership of their career development and improve job market readiness.
