Seamless Security: Developing an e-Commerce Platform for Digital Watermarking of Product Images

The rapid expansion of Vietnam's e-commerce landscape has exposed a significant vulnerability: the widespread theft of intellectual property, particularly product images. Fraudulent vendors often misappropriate images from legitimate sellers, leading to consumer deception and substantial financial and reputational harm for original businesses. In response, the "Seamless Security" project introduces Origity, an innovative e-commerce platform designed to restore trust and integrity to the online marketplace.



Origity's core function is an integrated, invisible digital watermarking system. This technology embeds an imperceptible, unique digital signature directly into the pixels of a product image upon upload. This embedded code, which contains information about ownership, remains robust even if the image is copied, cropped, or compressed. This allows for undeniable verification of the image's origin, providing sellers with legal proof of authenticity in cases of dispute.

The system employs a hybrid watermarking approach using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), which ensures the watermark is both robust and invisible to the human eye. This practical application of advanced technology creates a scalable framework for intellectual property protection within Vietnam's digital economy and other similar markets. By actively deterring image theft, Origity aims to foster a secure, fair, and trustworthy online environment, benefiting both sellers and buyers and setting a new standard for digital commerce.
