GoWithMRT
Ho Chi Minh City's new Metro Rail Transit (MRT) system faces a critical "last-mile" connectivity challenge, leaving commuters stranded at stations without affordable onward transportation. GoWithMRT addresses this urban mobility gap through an innovative mobile application that connects MRT passengers with similar final destinations for shared, cost-effective rides.
The solution features a comprehensive React Native mobile app with Spring Boot backend, leveraging Firebase services and Google Maps integration. Key innovations include GPS-based MRT validation, a smart matching algorithm that groups users by destination proximity, and real-time coordination using a custom Ben Thanh Station map. The system designates group leaders, facilitates ride booking through existing services and implements fair distance-based cost splitting.
Developed by team VsKode in partnership with Nextway Technology, the project includes both user-facing mobile applications and a complete back-office administrative system. Through ten completed agile sprints, the team has successfully implemented core features including user authentication, matching algorithms, station coordination, and analytics integration.
GoWithMRT promotes sustainable urban transport, reduces individual travel costs, and maximizes the utility of HCMC's public transit investment by bridging the critical gap between mass transit and final destinations.
