How did RMIT help you develop career in HR field?

When talking about a career, there are two important aspects: capabilities or skills and mindset. I grew these two aspects during my time at RMIT – where I was honored to be granted a full-time scholarship and gained many achievements in my university life. Teamwork, people skills, and communication are what we learned and grew during our assignments and projects together. Besides, one thing quite trendy and unique in HR that I developed during my Finance degree was numerical and analytical skills, which now helped me in working with many HR-related data points and making decisions based on rationales and facts & figures. In terms of the mindset of an HR, the greatest thing I gained from RMIT was thinking about ‘Making value and Impact.’ This works as a manifesto that motivates me to focus on solving problems and putting people at the core of any activities and decisions. I have the flexibility, and creativity in my HR work and life, providing now things get agile, as what guides me is that mindset.

What is your daily life as an HR expert?

My purpose is to help people dance through life beautifully with their own talent. My responsibility as an HR Business Partner for manufacturing is to take care of the people agenda which aims to facilitate this factory to become World-Class in manufacturing; that means developing the Talent, Organization, Capability & Culture of the factory. o Every day I come to work, I would do things that help me live my purpose while delivering my job expectations.

How did the experience from RMIT help you to start and develop your career?

I am grateful that I started my career with successfully win a great start at Unilever through a program called Unilever Future Leader Program (UFLP)- HR function. It's the most prestigious fresh recruitment & development program of Unilever Globally. It was a very tough selection process that I've been through which selects more than 10 people from almost 3 thousand applications around Vietnam

10 years passed and I’m still feeling blessed choosing RMIT for my bachelor's degree. The education was excellent and transformed me from a shy student to a proactive one with the opportunities to work in a multinational company even before graduation.
