In 2050, "Cover" is a sustainable floating hub located on Kenh Te Canal in District 4. The space is designed by the features of District 4 and intended to address both the needs of the locals for improving living circumstances and the government's goal of financing this project.
Taking into account the people who use "Cover", the area was planned as a green public area to meet the demands of the community for a healthy gathering space to socialize and do business. Furthermore, a natural setting would be ideal for Refill, a firm that promotes the advantages of living sustainably through refill services and on-site educational programs, and serving as the model for the shape design of this space.
"Cover" was also created with consideration for the unique qualities of District 4, including its bustling, festive vibes, open spaces
that allow natural lights, exciting “hẻm's” life , and the textures and raw materials it is made of. Environment-friendly materials
such as wood and recycled plastics were used to construct this area and mimic the roughness of stones and cement, which helps minimize waste. Moreover, the entire area was designed to be explored through a network of distinct pathways and sections, which is similar to how people move inside “hẻm” areas in District 4.
Overall, "Cover"
is a green social gathering place that
offers an answer to the needs of the residents and visitors, while promoting the authentic experience
of District 4.
