“Be Active in Your Own Way”
is a project that aims to promote two key messages: that RMIT Active empowers every person, not just the “better” or more athletic person, and that you do not have to be sporty to be active.
This is expressed through vibrant illustrations of six stylised characters representing a diverse spectrum of RMIT students, including different ethnicities, sexualities, and both visible and invisible disabilities. Through these characters, students may be able to see aspects of themselves reflected and feel a sense of belonging and welcome within RMIT Active.
While representing RMIT students from different backgrounds, these characters also joyfully engage in a variety of activities, including both sports and creative pursuits such as cooking, creating art, and performing music. These illustrations help create a fun, energetic, and welcoming atmosphere, and can be adapted for display around the Sport Hall during events that celebrate inclusivity and wellbeing, such as Pride Month, Pride Week, or collaborative events with RMIT Wellbeing, RMIT Library, and RMIT Pride Club, helping to foster a supportive and inclusive community.
