"Green Layers" is a sustainable urban oasis that caters to the residents of District 4, near the Kenh Te Canal.
This innovative design has three layers: the uppermost layer encompasses the bustling Kenh Te Bridge; while the second one features a lush botanic garden, public sitting areas, and gathering spots. There are stairs that lead directly to the canal, which helps everyone interact with water-based food vendors on boats. Adjacent to the entrance, the refill and recycling stations include convenient services. The third subterranean layer, houses a seasonal street food garden (located in the southeast corner), a green grocery, and a smoothie bar, along with the sitting areas and the greenery.
Ground level cutouts facilitate the growth of underground trees by allowing sunlight and air to connect them to the surface.
A curtain of trees in the quiet southeast corner shields from the noise of the busy roads. This arrangement allows visitors to savor the sense of tranquility
from the urban hustle by basking in the cool breezes wafting from the canal, while being surrounded by lush vegetation. The botanic garden near the canal, boasts an abundance of aromatic plants and flowers, with their scents being carried by the canal breeze.
Besides providing relaxation, this area promotes environmental consciousness by encouraging visitors to refill their containers at the refill station to reduce plastic waste, and categorize waste at the adjacent recycle station.
