Marvel’s Spider Man 2: An Evolving World Affected By Its Compelling Narrative Design

I chose to write about Marvel’s Spider Man 2 for my Specialization Brief Response as I enjoyed the game’s story and gameplay a lot. Part of the reason I enjoyed it so much was that the narrative affects gameplay and vice versa which I discuss in my written essay with examples from early in the game. As for my video essay, I decided to talk about what I believe the theme of the game to be as I think the game makes it extremely clear for general audiences through conflicts the main characters of the story are facing and how the theme is reinforced through gameplay.

Making the video essay wasn’t hard as I made PowerPoint slides to organize my points and structure the video. The videos in the PowerPoint are GIFs as I wanted the slides to have scenes of gameplay in motion. It did come with a downside as the file size was around 20 gigabytes and moving between slides was slow because of having many GIFs. I recorded gameplay footage with the Elgato HD60s capture card and used Logitech’s C920 Pro HD Webcam to record myself talking over my slides.
