The story of HEGEMONY OF URBAN STRUCTURED HABITATION (HUSH) is deeply connected to current metropolitan issues, especially those occurring in Southeast Asia. HUSH imagines a future where urban planning is pushed to a harsh extreme, prioritising expansion while overlooking safety. It serves as a commentary on contemporary real-world issues that are often ignored in favour of growth and development.
In short, HUSH is not just a made-up fantasy world. Instead, it carefully takes these very real and ongoing problems — the desperate search for housing, the physical and mental stress of crowded living, the hidden impact of noise, and social and economic pressures — and pushes them into a possible future. HUSH’s story acts as a strong warning, highlighting the consequences of overcrowded spaces, poorly built infrastructure, and neglected safety standards. It forces players to confront issues that are already quietly and persistently occurring in our world today (Swasto 2016; Widya et al. 2023).
HUSH is a city founded in 2105, built to enforce extreme order after the traumatic Dissonance Event. It is a sound-centric society where strict noise control shapes every aspect of life. The city’s tall, curving architecture, combined with specialised sound-absorbing materials, creates a calm yet tense atmosphere. HUSH’s social structure, controlled by the dB Score System, reflects this rigid environment. Beneath it, the flooded metro conceals the city’s hidden reality and serves as the main source of conflict.
